About Me

Hi there, and welcome to Shadow and Sun Counseling! I’m Maddi, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas (#83897) and Owner of Shadow and Sun Counseling. I believe that therapy is a safe space where growth, development, and the challenging of our negativity take place. Therapy is profoundly personal and should be tailored to meet each clients’ individual needs. As a natural empath, I strive to meet my clients where they are and to assist them in navigating towards positive development and attainment of their personal goals.

I’ve worked alongside clients experiencing a wide range of concerns including trauma of many forms, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, depression, self-esteem concern, mood swings, to those looking for someone to help explore their thoughts and feelings on a deeper, more meaningful level. I enjoy spending time getting to help my clients know their true, authentic selves through the therapeutic relationship and personalizing treatment based on their needs.

My approach includes the trauma focused modality of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and combines approaches such as Person-Centered, Gestalt, Solution-Focused, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

I know firsthand that life can be full of both struggles and triumphs, and that having a space to explore all these experiences and the emotions that coincide without fear of judgment. This is why I not only encourage others to seek out therapy for themselves, but I have my own therapist whom I seek regularly for those very same reasons! Allow me to walk alongside you as you embark on this therapeutic journey to create the life you want and deserve!

I hold a Bachelors degree in Health and minor in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Houston and received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with honors from Lamar University. I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three daughters, going to Disney, watching movies, and baking sweet treats in my free time!
